Designers in pursuit of design excellence
The greatest advantage for design students at the Aichi University of Arts is that design is treated as an integral part of an art education. First and foremost, art demands that students tap into their own excellence. They must identify the powerful motivations and passions within themselves that support their expression. It is no different than the top priority for cutting-edge entrepreneurs. Our new curriculum is unique in that it therefore includes the cultivation of an entrepreneurial mindset to develop outstanding designers. Students seek out the driving force behind their creations and study the designs that create synergies with our world in more direct and well-timed ways. Curriculum
Using integrated design to turn out designers who can resonate with society in unique ways
First-year students are taught ideation strategies to come up with a number of new ideas in a short period of time, giving them the imaginative power to shift into a variety of perspectives. During their second and third years, students select topics and put together eight themes that can be explained from multiple angles. Here, they use techniques from entrepreneurship education to learn how to pose problems that express their unique identity. Fourth-year students develop designs from these unique perspectives. Small-group learning experiences from faculty members and diverse instructor teams generate one-on-one interactions that maximize student capabilities.
